Quick and Easy Marinara

Yield:  1 lb 8 oz                                    Cooking time: 55 minutes

  • 28 oz can of Crushed tomatoes
  • 1 medium onion, diced small
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced
  • 6-7 fresh bay leaves
  • 2 tbsp basil
  • 2 tbsp oregano
  • 2 tbsp parsley
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 1/2 tsp sugar
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • Salt and pepper, for taste

  1. In a large pot on medium-low heat, add the butter, olive oil and onions and let cook until translucent (see through).  Then add the garlic, oregano, basil, and parsley and let cook for about 5 minutes to let the aromatics from the herbs come out.
  2. Begin to add the crushed tomatoes.  With a potato masher begin to mash the tomatoes (consistency is up to you), add the sugar, bay leaves, salt and pepper, then place lid and let cook for 45 minutes.
  3. Happy Eating!

NOTE: You can ground beef for a meat sauce marinara.  Great for dipping, pastas and pizza.
